Haircut

Wearing a hijab, I rather keep my hair short and will go for a haircut every two or three months. Today, I went to get one and all went smooth when the owner (Harwant) understood what I want; stacked bob. She showed me pictures of haircut styles before that, and I pointed and confirmed a stacked bob style. While cutting my hair, a lady walked in to get her eyebrows threaded and Harwant attended to her and asked her assistant (whom she called Kakak) to continue cutting my hair.

Kakak: But your hair is already short, why you want it to be shorter? *I was dumbfounded with her question and suddenly the image of Sinead O'Connor shaved head came into mind*
Me: It is messy and I want it shorter. Can you please cut as shown in the photo?

Kakak went to get the stylebook again and looked at the photo I pointed out. She then took out the thinning-scissor and started cutting my hair in a not-so-hairstylist manner. When I was younger I went to hairstylists a lot and I know a good one when I saw one.

Kakak: The photo shows that the parting needs to be more to the left. *While trying to part my hair again despite what Harwant had done earlier.*
Me: Look, the parting is correct. You do not need to follow exactly what is shown on the book. What if my hair-parting is on the other side? You want to change that also and make it exactly like what's in the book?

She did not seemed too please with my comments and continued cutting the upper part of my hair with thinning-scissor.

Me: Stop it. I thought you understand that I want STACKED BOB. You  do not need to layer or thin the upper crown or nape part! You only need to use that on the lower crown or nape part, right? Or maybe you should not use that at all. Stop it now. I want Harwant to do it.

Kakak grumbled and went to get Harwant. Harwant apologised and continued cutting my hair. Harwant cut my hair so professionally and she didn't even have to use thinning-scissor. End of story.

So, moral of the story, when you do your job, do it until you finish. Don't let anybody take the job halfway. Because the end result would be a DISASTER.
