Making sense

Entering an art gallery with a paper bag with a gift inside that was bought at the gallery itself.

"Sorry ma'am, you cannot bring that inside, you have to leave it here," said the gallery staff.

"Why? It's not like I'm going to rob all the big paintings. This paper bag is too small to fit them in. My handbag is bigger than the paper bag. Do I have to leave this too with you?" I said.

"You can take your handbag inside but not the paper bag. That is one of the the rules here, ma'am," the staff added.

"Well, ok, I dislike this one rule, it does not make sense at all. In that case, I won't be going in to see all the paintings."

I walked away.
